The Birth of Song and Story – Part 1

After only being officially launched for about four days, we have received such great encouragement and feedback from our first group of visitors to the website! Thank you so much!

One of the initial questions that everyone is asking is, “Where did you guys come up with this idea?” We think that’s a valid question and would love to take this opportunity to share the story behind Song And Story.

 

Part 1

About four years ago now, I (Aubrey) had this idea to start a website and write songs for people’s occasions. I thought, wouldn’t it be cool to be able to give someone something so personal and one-of-a-kind at a pivotal mile marker in their life. But, just like most good ideas that all of us have, it stayed up there in my mind’s bookshelves amidst the dusty dust-jackets of other forlorn virtual creations of my imagination. Every once in a while, I would pull it off the shelf and ruminate over it a while, but eventually (and most of the time rather quickly) it would go back in its place with no promise of being revisited.

Fortunately for me, this creative spark wasn’t willing to be shelved. It had a voice and kept beckoning me to do something about it. What did I do? Nothing. But over time, it became an idea that made its way down the intricate web of synapses and brain matter onto paper. Soon after that I did the one dangerous thing that anyone can do if they want to see something come to pass. I gave voice to the voice in my head. I told Jen and then another friend. And thus concluded part 1 of the journey, from my brain, to, and out of my mouth.

 

What about you?

Let me just pause the story here and ask you, what is that idea that has been screaming inside of you? What story is up there just longing to be told? Why not give it a voice? After all, it’s just a little idea, right? Talking about it is definitely not the end of the process, but it is a good beginning.
